Our Story
In November 1993, Martin and Carol Cooper’s lives changed forever when their triplet sons were born. As working parents, they knew first-hand how difficult it was to find excellent childcare. The farm seemed like the ideal place for a children’s nursery, so they converted a large barn into a 20-place day nursery. Demand grew quickly, and they soon expanded by converting the old milking parlour into a cosy 12-place baby room.
Having grown up, the boys are now part of our Director team — with their own children coming to Coneygarth! We now care for 98 children across our day nursery, including an Out of School Club for 24 children. There are acres of secure land to explore, including woodland and play areas, with safe access to the farm. We have two sister nurseries in Doncaster: Flying Start Day Nursery at Robin Hood Airport, and High Melton Day Nursery at High Melton. We run our settings as a family, with our origins at the heart of everything we do. We gave our own children the best start in life, and we want the same for yours.
From mark-making with sticks in the mud to drawing plans in the sandpit, we weave early literacy into everyday play. Whether it is a letter hunt around the farm, sharing favourite stories together, or making up our own songs, communication grows naturally throughout the day.
Maths comes to life through hands-on experiences, from filling buckets with apples and exploring capacity to weighing animal feed or guessing how deep a puddle might be. Even lining up peapods in the paddock becomes a chance to compare, count and discover.
Life on the farm offers endless opportunities to learn about the world. Watching vegetables grow, caring for animals and noticing small details like a spider’s web or a colourful leaf all spark curiosity, questions and a deeper understanding of nature.
Every day brings new challenges and chances to problem-solve, from working out how to keep sheep in the paddock to deciding which animals to feed first. We encourage children to think creatively, stay positive and keep trying, learning that it is all part of the journey.
